Ανακοινώθηκαν οι υποψηφιότητες της 84ης τελετής απονομής των Oscar που θα γίνει στις 26 Φεβρουαρίου 2012, στο Kodak Theatre στο Hollywood. Παρουσιαστής της βραδιάς για 9η φορά θα είναι ο Αμερικανός Billy Crystal.
Τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες έχει η ταινία του Martin Scorsese ”Hugo” με 11 και το ”The Artist” του Michel Hazanavicius με 10! Ακολουθούν ”Moneyball” και ”War Horse” με 6, ”The Descendants” και ”The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” με 5 και ”The Help” and ”Midnight in Paris” με 4!  Από 3 υποψηφιότητες έχουν οι ταινίες ”Albert Nobbs”,” Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2”, ”Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”, ”Transformers: Dark of the Moon” και ”The Tree of Life” ενώ 2 έχουν οι ”A Separation”, ”Bridesmaids”,” Extremely Loud” and ”Incredibly Close”, ”The Iron Lady”, και ”My Week with Marilyn”.
